Democrat welcomes new sports editor

CALLICOON – The Sullivan County Democrat added a new staff member this week, as Anthony Morgano takes over the position of sports editor.

Morgano has been a Sullivan County resident since he was born in 1997, and graduated from Roscoe Central School in 2015. Following his graduation from Roscoe, Morgano attended Binghamton University, where he graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor’s Degree in English.

Sports have always been one of Morgano’s passions, as he has continued playing baseball recreationally from t-ball until now. Morgano plays in the Hudson Valley National Adult Baseball Association, where he pitches for the Poughkeepsie Indians. The 24-year old also enjoys golfing and playing fantasy football with his friends.
Morgano spent two summers as an intern for the Democrat before joining the freelance team during his years in, and after, college. The fledgling reporter waited for the opportunity to join the team and took it, hoping to contribute to the coverage of sports around the county.

“I’m grateful to be a part of this team and I’m looking forward to continuing in the footsteps of all the great sports editors that came before me,” Morgano said. “This newsroom is where I started on this journey as an intern and I’m excited to be back as a full-time employee.”
