SULLIVAN COUNTY — The Rate of Unemployment in Sullivan County in February 2025 was 4.5 percent, according to the New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL). 

The NYSDOL released preliminary local area unemployment rates for February 2025, which rely partly on the Current Population Survey that contacts approximately 3,100 households in New York State every month. New York State’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate declined from 4.4 percent in January to 4.3 percent in February 2025. 

The highest unemployment rate in New York State for February 2025 was 7.6 percent in Hamilton County, and the lowest rate was 3.6 percent in both Putnam County and Tompkins County. 

From February 2024 to 2025, Sullivan County’s unemployed residents dropped from 1,700 to 1,600 and the unemployment rate fell from 4.6 percent to 4.5 percent.
