Donald R. “Don” Phillips, of Neversink, NY, passed away on December 19, 2022 at Garnet Health Medical Center, Harris, NY. He was 77.

He was the son of the late Harold and Doris (Schonberg) Phillips, born on May 17, 1945 in Queens, NY.

Don worked as a special education teacher for BOCES and then Tri-Valley School District until his retirement.

Don had many hobbies, he was a HAM radio operator, with the tags WA2IKR and W2EFI. He loved everything about cars; he was a member of the Sports Car Club of America, several Mustang clubs, and he regularly attended races at Lime Rock Park.

He also had an affinity for trains big and small, specifically Lionel trains that he collected.  In his free time he enjoyed canoeing, kayaking, spending time at the beach, and listening to loud rock and roll.

But above all else, he loved his family and spending as much time with them as he could.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, cousin, and friend. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife Ruth; daughters, Amy Anderson and her husband, Chris, and Cara Costello and her husband, Thomas; grandchildren, Emma, Grace, Gavin, Zoe, and Desmond; as well as his cousin, whom he thought of more like a brother, Skip Henschel, and his wife Eileen.

Donations in Don’s name can be made to the Grahamsville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 86, Grahamsville, NY 12740 or to the Neversink EMS, 7486 State Route 55, Neversink, NY, 12765.
