MONTICELLO –– Members of the Monticello Police Department, in conjunction with the United States Marshall Service (U.S.M.S.) Fugitive Task Force, arrested Jason “Critter” Lajoie, age 45, on Wednesday.

Lajoie who was being held in Federal custody on weapons and drug offenses, had been granted a furlough in order to attend a funeral in the State of Rhode Island.

On Sunday, October 24, Lajoie escaped from a transport vehicle on I-84 in Pike County, Pennsylvania.
On Wednesday the U.S.M.S. Fugitive Task Force developed information that Lajoie was located in a room at the “INN @ Monticello” at 392 Broadway in the Village of Monticello.

Following surveillance of the location, officers made entry to room No. 301 at 10:45 p.m. Wednesday evening and arrested Lajoie without incident.

According to WBRE, an NBC-affiliated television station serving the Scranton/Wilkes Barre area, back in February, Lajoie had been charged with 13 counts of felony possession of firearms by a convicted felon, one felony count of possession with intent to deliver drugs, one felony count of unlawful possession of body armor, one misdemeanor count of drug possession, one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia and one misdemeanor count of possession of a small amount of marijuana.

According to Monticello PD, Lajoie was taken into custody by U.S.M.S. and transported to Federal Court in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Also assisting was the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office.
