NARROWSBURG — Sunday, March 26th at 2 PM we continue celebrating Women’s History Month with Sullivan County Chamber Orchestra (SCCO) and a performance highlighting the work of four monumental female composers: Reena Esmail, Amy Beach, Lili Boulanger, and Clara Schuman. The program, “Everlasting Impressions,” features Akiko Hosoi on violin, Kirsten Jermé on cello, and Ruoting Li on the piano. Located at 37 Main St, Narrowsburg.

Performers

Akiko Hosoi, Violin

Kirsten Jermé, Cello

Ruoting Li, Piano

Program

Reena Esmail, Saans

Amy Beach, Trio

Lili Boulanger, D’un Soire Triste

Clara Schumann, Trio in G minor

SCCO celebrates Women’s History month through performances of four monumental composers who leave a lasting impact on their colleagues, community and the world around them. Clara Schumann had an extensive performing career but her brilliance as a composer was often overlooked. Amy Beach amassed a brilliant catalogue of compositions and is one of the first successful American female composers without the benefit of European training and across the pond a short time later, Lili Boulanger was the first female winner of the coveted Prix de Rome. Reena Esmail, through promoting cross-cultural music collaboration between the music tradition of India and the West in her compositions, will leave remarkable contributions to music history. To celebrate women enduring and underrepresented contributions to music, women who attend the performance will receive a small gift of appreciation.
