Fallsburg boys fall to Chester

CHESTER -- The Comets lost their season opener to Chester, 66-30, on Saturday.

“For the first game of the season, the team got off to a rough start. As the game progressed we got better. I am proud of the effort and toughness the team showed,” said Fallsburg Boys Basketball Coach Lionel White. “We are a very young team, but we are eager to compete.”

Fallsburg senior Nick Fraser led the Comets in scoring with 13 pts. He noted that he's dedicating his senior season to his late mother saying, "I just want to make her proud."

Girls Basketball

Manor 49, Liberty 33

The Lady Wildcats (1-1) got the better of the Lady Indians (1-1) on Saturday morning, winning the non-league contest at Liberty, 49-33. Pacing the Manor offense was Kristina Davis, Sam Severing and Mackenzie Carlson with 13, 11 and 10 points respectively. Liberty's offensive effort was led by Grace Wormuth who scored 10 points. Yanira Wilson had another big game on the boards, pulling down 14 rebounds.

Seward 32, T-V 18

Tri-Valley (1-1) lost to Seward in Grahamsville, 32-18, on Sunday. The Lady Bears were without their Varsity Coach and Star Senior Captain Rebecca Musa. According to Tri-Valley coaches, their first half was plagued with turnovers and poor play. Seward was led by Shannon Sganbick with 26 points. Tri-Valley was led by Theresa Conway and Madison Botsford both with 6 points. The two teams will meet again on Tuesday in Grahamsville.
