Fallsburg updates on road work and Main Street beautification

FALLSBURG—The Town of Fallsburg held a work session on June 6 after not meeting the Monday before due to the Memorial Day holiday.

According to Fallsburg, Deputy Supervisor Sean Wall-Carty, he and others are planning a “walk-thru” of Main Street in Fallsburg in mid-June.

He will be joined by members of Sullivan Renaissance and Fallsburg Code Enforcement to “identify potential grants that those businesses can use.”

Sullivan Renaissance provides information and opportunities to obtain beautification grants throughout Sullivan County.

Wall-Carty said, “We’re going down there just to have conversations with businesses on that strip to identify real opportunities for them to partner with Sullivan Renaissance for grant money."

Road Work

According to the Town of Fallsburg, Mongaup Road in Hurleyville will be closed between the addresses of 60 and 73 Mongaup Road.

This road closure is due to a  repair to the culvert. The shutdown will begin on June 24 and is expected to continue until the end of September 2022.

Furthermore, Molly Messenger, Code Enforcement Officer for Fallsburg, said that State Route 42 at Brickman Road in Fallsburg is currently under construction to install turning lanes and will be until November when construction will be halted and will resume the following year.

According to Messenger, the work on State Route 42 will increase during the summer months; however, work will not go past noon during those months.

Road closures are not expected as the work happens on State Route 42, but lane shifting can be expected, and Messenger suggested people find alternate routes when traffic is congested in that area.

Website Upgrade

The Town of Fallsburg is looking to improve and upgrade its town website and requested proposals for the upgrade project.

At the work session on June 6, three companies gave presentations - Bold Gold Media, Capacity Group, and Revize.

According to the request for proposal (RFP) from the town, the goal of the new website is to have the technology in place to support “online services, provide full site search ability, facilitate content creation and editing, house a calendar of event system and create an overall inviting and engaging web design interface.”

The town would need to review the proposals and the presentations before making a final decision.
