Fatal accident in Narrowsburg

NARROWSBURG — On Thursday, May 20 at 6:57 p.m. New York State Police Troopers responded to a 911 report of a single vehicle off the roadway.

Upon arrival members observed a 2003 Ford Ranger overturned down an embankment in Little Lake Erie Creek.

According to State Police, Frank Fippinger, 87, of Livingston Manor was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say they do not know what caused the accident.

Responding agencies observed no signs of life, and no life-saving measures were taken.

The Sullivan County Coroner responded to the scene and the post mortem time of death was reported to be 7:40 p.m. The deceased was taken to the Garnet Health Medical Center - Catskills.

According to his obituary, Fippinger was an auto electrician employed by the City of New York Department of Sanitation.

In his free time he enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and being outdoors.

He is survived by many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held privately.
