FALLSBURG - During the monthly meeting of the Fallsburg Central School District on January 11, the Wellness Committee continued its participation in planning the Family Extravaganza scheduled for Saturday, January 21 at the Fallsburg Jr/Sr High School. Added items for the multi-cultural food tasting at the event are curried chicken and rice and black beans.

Food was a big part of the meeting, and members of the committee from the elementary and junior/senior high schools were very excited to announce the success of providing healthy snacks of fruits and vegetables. Served on carts in both buildings, the fresh snacks were well received by the students especially towards the end of the school day and in the after-school programs. Interim Athletic Director Amanda Stevens announced that all sports teams will be getting fresh fruit and vegetables in the late afternoon before their games and practices. This will provide healthy nourishment during the long period of lunch time and the late hour when games are concluded. Superintendent Dr. Ivan Katz complimented the Committee for this program, and Head of Food Services Anthony Rollins was pleased to be part of the implementation and sustenance of the healthy snacks.

Also on the agenda were the new walking classroom program at BCES and yoga exercise programs after school in both buildings. Sullivan 180’s Christy Ter Bush is partnering in this effort as part of Healthy Generations Program.

At the close of the eventful meeting, Dr. Katz was happy to announce the ceremony to open the High School swimming pool on January 24, 2023.
