Posted

The firearms deer and bear season in the Southern Zone of New York opens Saturday, November 16 and ends on Sunday, December 8. The late bow and muzzleloading season starts on Monday December 9 and ends on Tuesday December 17.

If you are hunting in an antler point restriction management unit, all legal bucks must have at least one antler with 3 or more points that are at least one-inch long. Youth hunters are exempt.

Always check the NYS DEC Rules & Regulations Guide to see what restrictions are in the management unit you are hunting.

Pennsylvania's firearm deer season opens on Saturday, November 30 and ends on Friday, December 6. PA's bear season opens on Saturday November 23 and ends on Wednesday November 27.

The late archery and flintlock season opens on Thursday, December 26 and ends on Monday January 20, 2020.

Check the Pennsylvania Hunting & Trapping Digest to see what antler restrictions pertain to the management unit you are hunting and remember there is no Sunday hunting in Pa.

Be sure to enter your deer in the Democrat's deer contest, which begins Saturday.

Wishing all a successful and safe hunting season!

Donating Vension!

New York's Venison Donation Coalition has been feeding the hungry in the state and on average 38 tons of venison each year.

Nine regional food banks support the state with the distribution of venison to those in need.

In addition to donating deer that are harvested by hunters, cash donations of $1 or more can be made when you purchase your hunting license. One dollar will feed four people and for every dollar donated, 90 cents is used toward processing the venison.

Donations can be sent to: Venison Donation Coalition, Inc, 3 East Pulteney Square, Bath, NY 14810.

In Sullivan County, Neves Taxidermy, Inc. in Bethel (845-583-7814) is listed as a participating venison processor for this hunting season.
