UPCOMING PROGRAMS

  • Saturday, January 29 at 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Open Studio Day with Muralist Kevin O’Neill

Drop in and visit with artist Kevin O’Neill as he works on our upcoming Bashakill Wetland mural. Even though you can’t tell, Kevin has been hard at work and has made great progress on our mural. Kevin has been working digitally, which you will be able to witness. He will explain the process, including the benefits of being able to create art technologically. If you attended Kevin’s previous event, you know how approachable and down to earth he is. He is passionate about his work and teaching. Drop in anytime between 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to see this amazing technique. This free program and mural graciously sponsored by Orange and Rockland/ConEdison Utilities.

  • Saturday, February 5 at 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Woodpeckers of NY

Handsome and well dressed, woodpeckers are a favorite of bird watchers. Learn about the 7 species of woodpeckers common to New York and how to identify each species by sight and sound. We will discuss diet, anatomy, adaptations and why they drum on objects. Make your own batch of peanut butter suet to take home! This event graciously sponsored by Basha Kill Area Association.   • Sunday, February 6 at 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Critter Connection

Meet the star and attend the movie premiere of “Help Me, Mary,” starring our very own Sloppy the opossum. Drop in between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. to meet the star. Film screenings at 1:15, 1:45, 2:15, 2:45. Refreshments will be available.

Understanding the Eastern Coyote

This lecture will cover the history of coyote migration from the Great Plains to the Northeast, anatomy, diet, territory, breeding, communication, understanding coyote behavior and reducing human/coyote conflict. Observe a coyote track plate, pelt and skull. Make a coyote track casting to take home! This lecture is recommended for adults and older children. Cost is $5/person $15 cap/family. Masks required.
