Jeffersonville, NY/Macedon, NY: Fred Roger Verderber, 87, of Macedon, NY and Jeffersonville, NY passed away on December 20th, 2024, in Macedon, NY. He was born on January 1, 1937, in Islip, NY to the late Fred and Lillian Verderber.

Fred graduated from East Islip High School in 1954 and earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Tri-State University in Angola, IN. He began his career in 1960 working for the State of Illinois. His engineering career took him to several private firms on Long Island and Florida before retiring from the Sullivan County Department of Public Works in 2000.

Fred was preceded in death by his wife Helen Schwatz Verderber; mother, Lillian Verderber; father, Fred Verderber; sister, Carole Nevins; and stepson, Paul Schwatz.

Fred is survived by his loving children, Mark (Linda) Verderber, Robert (Carren) Verderber, Cheryl (Ken) Treffinger and Denise Johnson; grandchildren, Andrew Verderber, Kelsey Verderber, Nicholas Treffinger, and Kaitlyn Treffinger; nephews, Michael Nevins and Larry Nevins; stepchildren, JoAnne Meislin, Thomas Schwatz; daughter-in-law Jessica Schwatz.

A memorial service will be held to honor Fred’s life and his contributions to his family and community. Please check back in the following days for details on Fred’s memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Fred can be made to the Jeffersonville Fire Department, St. Georges Catholic Church, or Rochester Regional Hospice Care Fund.
