Fremont suffers road damage from Hurricane Debbie

Posted

SULLIVAN COUNTY  — Friday night’s torrential rain, which saw up to 4 inches of rain fall in a matter of hours, damaged many roads throughout the Town of Fremont.

“The storm was town-wide, the worst of it in the Acidalia area,” Fremont Town Supervisor Brian Brustman confirmed. “We were on the edge of the storm, and we got a lot of rain really quickly. It could have been worse, but it is still not good,” he said.

“Our highway guys did a fabulous job this weekend,” the supervisor continued, noting that their work on reversing any damage from the storm had continued on into Monday.

Councilman Louis Milucky was on the road surveying the damage and said  Fremont Highway crews were out all weekend dealing with the emergency.

“Neer Rd. is completely destroyed,” he said. “They did a good job making some roads just passable.”
