MONTGOMERY — The friends and family of Skylar F.C. Pascale are pleased to announce the establishment of the Skylar F.C. Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan. The scholarship will be awarded to one Valley Central graduate each year, starting in 2023.

The Skylar F.C. Pascale Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by the friends and family of its namesake. The awardee will have overcome a unique obstacle, adversity, or challenge in their life, be regarded among their peers and teachers as kind, inclusive, and respectful, and will have demonstrated a commitment to athletics.

Skylar was a genuine leader and beloved graduate of the Valley Central class of 2000.  His unique combination of athleticism, humor, and kindness were unparalleled. Skylar was a gifted athlete, avid golfer, surfer, and writer. He was a lifeguard and strong swimmer who loved the water, ocean, and beach.

As a high school student at Valley Central, Skylar played varsity football, track, and golf. He was voted Homecoming King, elected Student Government Association President, and was selected to serve as a peer mediator.  After graduation, Skylar went on to college. At the time of his passing at the age of forty, Skylar was working with animals and pursuing his lifelong dream of playing professional golf.

“At a very young age, Skylar suffered more personal tragedy and loss than most adults must endure in a lifetime. Despite the hardship and adversity, Skylar always shined bright, made people laugh, and treated everyone with respect,” said the family spokesman and fund representative Jason S. Rosenwasser. “Skylar undeniably had a profound impact on each person he encountered in life, often lighting up a room with his smile. He was selfless, generous, and giving, even at a young age. I am confident that he would be both honored and humbled to have his name and legacy attached to a scholarship for a Valley Central senior that could assist them in moving one step closer to achieving their hopes and dreams.”
