In my last column, I wrote about funny people in my life. One of them was my sister-in-law, Marion. I thought of another saying of hers that I forgot to include. Since she was a hair dresser, people would sometimes ask her if it was true that blonds have more fun? She had an answer for them which was “Only dirty blonds do.”
I also wrote about some fun things that had recently happened in my life. One was my 90th birthday party which took place at The Old ‘76 House in Tappan, NY. Another was a visit by my grandson, John and his family which included my great grandson, Scotty. Now that I have all those funny and touching experiences behind me, I’ve decided it’s time to worry about things that may go wrong. My cute little two month old great grandson, Scotty is about to go into day care so that his mother, Christine can return to her job. His grandmother and I are both concerned about that. My son, Michael, thinks it could be a good thing for him as he knows of friends of his who claim that their kids thrived as a result of that experience. John and Christine looked into a few nursery schools before choosing one so it’s rather ridiculous for us to be concerned about it. The baby was lucky enough to have each parent able to take maternity leave and therefore not required to attend even sooner.
I am ready to take a few trips of my own. One to Toms River to visit family and also my former neighbors, Rome and Brenda Kariiaid and also my cousin, Greta who lives in Whiting which is not far from Toms River. Besides a trip to Callicoon Center, I want to go on a few river cruises in this country. You will be reading about which ones I get to.
