MIDDLETOWN - Garnet Health Medical Center is proud to announce designation as an LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality Top Performer in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 15th anniversary edition of the Healthcare Equality Index (HEI).
The HEI is the nation’s foremost benchmarking survey of healthcare facilities and their policies and practices dedicated to the equitable treatment and inclusion of LGBTQ+ patients, visitors and employees. A record 906 healthcare facilities actively participated in the HEI 2022 survey, and 251 received Top Performer status.
“Our Top Performer recognition acknowledges Garnet Health’s efforts in striving to ensure LGBTQ+ people are protected and affirmed and feel safe, whether seeking healthcare services or as a member of our workforce,” said Garnet Health President and CEO Alfred Pilong Jr. “We are committed to diversity, equity and inclusion whenever we are interacting with our patients and their families, our physicians, our workforce, our business partners and the diverse communities we serve.”
The HEI evaluates and scores healthcare facilities on detailed criteria falling under four central pillars:
Foundational Policies and Training in LGBTQ+ Patient-Centered Care
LGBTQ+ Patient Services and Support
Employee Benefits and Policies
Patient and Community Engagement
