Garnet, NYSDOH refute rumor of hospital closing

Posted

HARRIS –– Social media was abuzz when a rumor surfaced on Friday afternoon, claiming that Garnet Health had petitioned the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH)  to close their Catskillls campus in Harris.

Both Garnet Health and the  NYSDOH have since refuted that claim.

A spokesperson from Garnet Health told the Democrat that they are, “Fully committed to Sullivan County. As we have stated previously, we have no intention of closing Garnet Health Medical Center – Catskills. Any information stating the hospital in Sullivan County is closing is inaccurate and false. Garnet Health remains true to our mission of improving the health of our community by providing exceptional healthcare.”

Furthermore, NYSDOH Deputy Director of Communications Jeffrey Hammond told the Democrat, “The New York State Department of Health has not been contacted by Garnet regarding the closure of its Sullivan County site.”
