Gary Dennis Rose passed unexpectedly but peacefully in Boca Raton, Florida on October 13th, 2021 at the age of 76 years old.
Gary is survived by his wife of fifty years, Betty Ann; his children Garrett Rose, Rebecca Rose, Greg Rose, daughter-in-law Amanda Rose, and granddaughter Dylan Rose. He is also survived by Jim Rose (brother), Eleanor Rose (sister-in-law), and Ken Rose (brother).
Gary was born on November 24, 1944 in Livingston Manor, NY to Thelma Jagger and Kenneth Rose. He graduated from Livingston Manor High. After high school he served in The United States Airforce. He began his long and distinguished career in the telecommunications field in Cortland, NY, where he met and married Betty Ann Stranghoener in 1971. The couple raised their three children in the Cortland-Homer area before moving to Florida where he continued to work in telecommunications until his retirement at the age of 70.
Gary was a kind and compassionate man whose sarcastic wit will be greatly missed. He had many hobbies and was never one to miss out on a good time. Professionally, he was known as an excellent mentor and a man with a wealth of knowledge. Personally, he would go out of his way to help others, had a passion for civic duty, and was a dedicated family man. He was a volunteer fire chief for many years and most recently was very involved in the local VFW chapter in Boca Raton, FL.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to VFW Post 10556 or Crown City Ladder Company (Cortland volunteer fire department). Donations can be sent via mail to the address above for the VFW or on GoFundMe. A funeral will be scheduled for November 4, 2021 at 2 p.m. at the National Cemetery in Lake Worth, FL with a reception to follow at the Boca Raton chapter of the VFW Post 10556. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Gary’s life. The VFW address is 9400 West Palmetto Park #2, Boca Raton, FL.
