Gary Edwin Weiss, age 95, passed away in his home in Clayton, NC, on Monday, February 17, 2025. Born on September 7, 1929, in Callicoon, NY, he was a son to the late Edwin Christopher Weiss and Elizabeth Weiss.

Gary was raised in Callicoon, NY,  lived in Gainesville, FL, while in College, Corpus Christi, TX, while in Flight School, raised his family in New City, NY, retired in Sebring, FL, and moved to Clayton, NC, to be near family.

He graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Finance, and again from New York University with his MBA in Finance. Gary was very proud of his career as a Lieutenant Commander Navy Pilot, flying jets off of the USS Midway aircraft carrier. He used his GI bill to attend the University of Florida, got a job in New York City at Chase Manhattan as a Portfolio Manager, where he remained until his retirement at age 58. Gary moved with his wife, Evelyn, to Sebring, Fl. His passion was always the stock market, he watched it every day and it was his favorite topic of conversation! He enjoyed working in the yard, raking, mowing, watching the birds and getting his exercise every day. He was a very sweet man who always put his family first. One of the smartest men we knew and had a great sense of humor and a kind heart. He will be cherished in our memories forever.

Gary is survived by his wife, Evelyn Ruth (Irmscher) Weiss; children, Debbie S. Scoggin, (Loyd Scoggin), Douglas Weiss, Donna L. Weiss Gammariello, (Paul Gammariello), Gregory S. Weiss, (Michelle Weiss) and his grandchildren, Christian M. Gammariello, Kyle N. Gammariello, Gabrielle M. Weiss, Gary D. Weiss, and Grace H.M. Weiss.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to St. Judes Children’s Hospital, or Gary Sinise Foundation (for the vets).
