Green Smoothies for an Easy Morning Start

I have been looking for a great way to start off the morning. I have realized the healthier I start my day, the better off I am throughout the day. If I start off eating a breakfast sandwich by 9 am, I'm bound to snowball into pizza and chips.

I follow some really inspirational food accounts, and this is my own take on a green smoothie I recently saw on a post. Many posts I follow talk about collagen peptides. This powder can be found in shop-rite and amazon and includes health benefits such as improving skin hair and nail health, joint pain, heart health, gut health, brain health, the list goes on.

I also add in a very small amount of organic turmeric powder to my smoothies which is an anti inflammatory, prevents cancer, promotes weight loss, improves digestion etc. I normally don't “drink the juice” that all the influencers on instagram say, but it really has been making me feel better and overall more energized.

Into my green smoothie, I use 3 cups of orange juice, 1 cup frozen mango, 1 cup frozen strawberries, 1 scoop collagen peptides, 1 teaspoon organic turmeric, and 2 handfuls of spinach or kale. I begin my smoothies each morning by pouring in my juice so the blender is able to work. Add in your frozen fruits and spinach on top.

If the smoothie feels too thick, feel free to add a little more juice. I often need to use a spoon to press down the spinach that has not hit the blades. This will make about a blender full, so you will have plenty for the day after or others in your family!

Feel free to get creative as well with the greens and fruits. You can always add any fruit you would like. Don't want orange juice? Try a different juice or some almond milk!

Next week I'm sharing a delicious pork recipe I recently tried with a brown sugar and soy sauce reduction overtop! Happy cooking. XO
