Filling gas tank is painful

Posted

Jim Patterson has a podcast and writes with the Kiplinger Letter about high gas prices.

Jim notes that “It is increasingly painful to fill up your gas tank.”

Is there anything in sight for seeing gas prices going down?

Patterson says, “Fuel prices feel like they’ve been on a never-ending rise and going higher.”

The Patterson Podcast answered the question of gasoline prices going to go down with the statement, “No, we’re not going to see much in terms of relief at the gas pump.”

Patterson highlighted his Podcast session by adding, “Gas prices are maybe the most widely watched price in our entire economy and when they go up quickly, everyone’s very aware of them.”

Patterson pointed out, “People complain and there are a lot of calls for the  government to do something.”

One of the bigger factors affecting gasoline prices is the adding to the price of the fuel itself … and that one factor according to Patterson, “is the fuel tax.”

State Senator Mike Martucci has sent a large postcard to his constituents stating that, “from June 1 through December 31 state taxpayers will save 16 cents per gallon of gasoline with the suspension of part of the State’s gas tax.”

Everyone should thank all in our state government who voted for this reduction, but the federal government could give drivers nationwide a tax cut by suspending the 18.3 cent-per gallon federal tax on gas… but don’t hold your breath hoping this will happen.

The Kiplinger Letter indicates, “a good bet for when gas prices  will go down is in the fall… if seasonal patterns hold  up this year."

There are too many useless comments about our high fuel prices and there  appears strong podcast’s sentiments that Washington should restart and expedite the Keystone XL Pipeline immediately and reopen federal lands to drilling.
