Homemade Pizza Crust

Posted

There are few things I love more than homemade pizza. My dear, dear friends Adam and Jessica have perfected homemade pizza, and invited my fiancee and I over for a night of good food.

This homemade pizza recipe is absolutely incredible. It is also extremely versatile and can be made into a whole wheat crust (which I highly recommend) just by substituting whole wheat flour instead. This recipe will make three pies, so have a pizza party or save the rest for a later date.

To make the crust, you will need:

2 1/2 c flour; add up to an additional 1/2 cup as needed to adjust consistency

1 package active dry yeast

1 teaspoonful salt

1 cup warm water

2 tablespoonful cooking oil

Begin by combining half of the flour, yeast, and salt. Stir in warm water and 2 tablespoons cooking oil. Beat with a mixer at low speed for 30 seconds, then increase to a higher speed for 3 additional minutes. Add as much of the remaining flour as can be reasonably mixed with a spoon, then transfer to a floured surface and knead until dough is stiff (6-8 minutes total).

Cover dough and let rest 10 minutes. Divide dough into thirds; roll each into an 11 inch disk (the flatter the better!) and add your toppings! We began by making all sorts of different pies. A great way to make a pie is add your sauce, meat, toppings, and then cheese, a tip I learned from Jessica. We took a bag of frozen buffalo chicken strips, air fried them, then topped with mozzarella. Other popular toppings are olives, peppers, and onions.

I am all about making things as easy as possible with little to no prep. My fiancee didn’t believe me that olives come pre-sliced and you can buy them at the grocery store (though he is now considering “professional olive slicer” as his next vocation). True story.

A dash of Italian seasonings is never a bad idea either. Bake at 425º for about 10 minutes and you’ll have yourself an incredible pizza night. Cheers.
