Horace or ''Butch" Duncombe who left this life on Thursday, April 16, 2020, was a long-term resident of Sullivan County and his own man.

He is survived by two sisters, Alecia Wade, Middletown, NY and Dali Evans, New York, NY, two brothers, Calvin Duncombe, Mt. Morris, NY and Ronald Duncombe, of Gloucester, Virginia, a daughter, Greg "Gei-G” Duncombe, of California,, a brother-in-law, Roosevelt Payton of South Fallsburgh, NY, two sister-in-laws, Karen and Linda Duncombe, a niece Meagan Dinnerstein, a long-life friend, James Gartland and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Horace was a free spirit in the truest sense of the word. He was larger than life and indeed lived it to the fullest. Horace was once a patriot and a rebel; both serving his country and sometimes challenging its decisions.

Horace, acting as though his understanding was elusive, was unable to conceal the depth of his intellect during many conversations with him that ran the entire gamut from "a" to "whatever".

Horace was a soldier, a leader and a unique human being who live life to the fullest. Butch was a loving brother and loyal friend.

We have always loved him for these things and we always will. Rest in peace, brother. May GOD keep you in HIS love. You're going home!
