ROSENDALE - In celebration of it's 23rd year in operation and its return to live, and safe, performances in the Covid era, Murder Café will be bringing, “Mystery in the Mine” to the historic Widow Jane Mine in Rosendale.

Performances dates and times are July 15 and 16 at 7 p.m. and July 17 at 3 p.m. Following CDC and NY State Covid regulations the number of guests will be limited to 100 for each performance.

Tickets are $20 per person and are available at either murdercafe.net or centuryhouse.org. Snacks and non-alcoholic drinks will be available for purchase. All ticket buying guests are encouraged to bring a folding chair.

50% of all proceeds will benefit the Century House Historical Society.

The Snyder Estate Natural Cement Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Society is chartered by the New York State Education Department.

“Mystery at the Mine” is set in 1889 and the original play will include historic figures who impacted the local business and art scene.

Murder Café owner and operator, Frank Marquette, summarizes the whodunit as follows, “Local leaders of industry and art meet for a summer celebration. Samuel Coykendall, who manages a transportation empire is looking to move into the lucrative cement industry. Along with his socialite wife Mary, Samuel will be your host. Their guests include celebrated Hudson River School painter Jervis McEntee and his companion Julia Dillion, a influential artist and business leader. You will also meet an college professor, a loyal butler, and a fortune-hunting maid. The glitz and gaiety come to a halt when one of the party guests is murdered. Katherine Kerry, a local society columnist, is on the scene and she will ask you to help her solve the crime.”

Although scripted “Mystery in the Mine” is interactive and prizes will be awarded to those who guess the murderer's identity.

“Mystery at the Mine” features the talents of Hudson Valley based actors Jessica Boyd, Kim Schneeberger, Dan Anderson, Ellen Pavloff, David Britton, Kate Podell, David Baruch and Frank Marquette. Kenny Drao will be the technical director.
