For the fourth year in a row, the dynamic duo father and son team of Chuck Husson IV and Chuck Husson III are the champions of the 18-team Monday Night Men’s league at the Roscoe Twin Village Golf Club.
The father and son team won the league with 242 points.

Second place went to the Bret Reed and Sean Odell with 216 points, third place to Bryan Thomas and BJ Hendrickson 215.5 points, fourth place to the father and son team of Merlin Brock and Nate Brock with 213.5 points, fifth place to Collin Tallman and Tom Ackerley with 212.5 points, sixth place to Matt Rampe and Dan Clancy with 204.5 points, seventh place Kevin Green and George Glantzis with 199.5 points, eighth place Dennis Bennett and Bob Rowan 199 points, ninth place Tim Clark and Ken Mooney with 193.5 points, 10th place Al Madera and David Diaz with 190.5 points, 11th place Nick Townsend and Justin Murphy 189.5 points, 12th place Tom Darbee and Terry France 186 points, 13th place John Templin and Bob Lee 185 points, 14th place Steve Ryder and Paul Ryder 183 points, 15th place Fred Tucker and Randy Smith 182 points, 16th place Bill Haas and Craig France 174.5 points, 17th place Elton Harris and Joel Spalding 171 points, 18th place Ryan Wood and Will Brosius 161.5 points.

With many golf course improvements this year, the Twin Village Golf Course proved to be very tough on the teams as there were only three golfers to finish with a lower handicap at the end of the season than what they started with in the beginning.

Individual awards presented included: most overall points to Chuck Husson III with 120 points, Collin Tallman won most overall eagles with 2, Chuck Husson IV won most overall birdies with 24 and most overall pars with 80, Collin Tallman finished the season with the lowest handicap of 1.88.

Low net round of the season was scored by Craig France who shot a gross 36 with a 16 handicap which equaled a net 20 and Chuck Husson IV carded a 4 under 28 for the low gross round of the season.

The Twin Village Golf league this season consisted of several father/son teams, brother and brother team and uncle/nephew teams. Age was no barrier as teams included those in their 20’s and players in their 80’s.
League manager Chuck Husson IV noted there is a lot of work running a league and “I look forward to seeing and playing competitive golf with the teams every Monday in the 2022 season.”

A dinner was held at the club house following the last night of golf, with the Roscoe Beer Company providing excellent food and drinks. Husson on behalf of the league thanked the Twin Village staff and Roscoe Beer Company staff for “all you have done.”

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic produced a season unlike any other and ended before an awesome FedExCup Playoffs all inside the one PGA Tour season.

Through 50 tournaments we witnessed thrills and spills from the greatest players on the planet with incredible golf coming thick and fast.

The season was so packed tight with highlights that the task of coming up with the top 10 story lines from the past year of PGA golf was a near impossible task.

Golf Tip

When we golfers get to the tee we always say to ourselves, “no slice and hit the ball straight.”

So this week let’s look at the best way to stop slicing your driver and start hitting the ball straight.

Let’s look at these tips.

1. The Grip. You do not want your hands turning too much towards the target. We want to strengthen your grip or turn it away from the target so you can see more knuckles. Change the grip, then hit golf balls. It might take some practice, but this is the first stage
2.  Closing the face. The handle should be slightly ahead of the club face. With your new grip, we want to rotate the face of the club down and turn the knuckles down. Don’t throw the shoulder, you just want the bottom part of the forearm working. Get that sensation of closing the face. Don’t rush this. Try to get a draw working from right to left.
3. Pressure on the back of the golf ball. We don’t want chicken wings and flicky strikes at the ball, we want pressure on the back of the golf ball.
