I Love My Library fundraiser

Did you know that April 3rd- April 9th 2022 is National Library Week?

This year, the Sullivan County Public Library Alliance (SUPLA) is holding a fundraiser in recognition of National Library Week, for all of the county libraries, at Pecks Supermarkets.

I Love My Library fundraising tags will be available at all four Pecks from 3/28 to 4/10. The Sullivan Public Library Alliance has partnered with Pecks Markets to give Pecks shoppers the opportunity to show their appreciation for the public libraries in Sullivan County by donating their change, or any amount they would like, and proudly signing a tag to be displayed in that store.

Pecks are located in Eldred, Jeffersonville, Livingston Manor and Callicoon. Funds raised will support projects shared among the 9 public libraries in the county, including the Sullivan County Youth Book Festival, The Poet Laureate Project, the shared 3D printers, and the Library-By-Mail Delivery Program.

Some of our county libraries are offering some wonderful programs this month to encourage everyone to “Love Your Library” even more. Mamakating Library will have The Storycrafters on Saturday April 23rd at 1:30 p.m. Internationally renowned, award-winning musical storytelling duo Jeri Burns and Barry Marshall, aka The Storycrafters, will present a lively participatory celebration of world folktales and songs for spring.

The Liberty Public Library held the Senior Coffee Club on Monday April 4th at 10:30 a.m. with guest speaker Adrienne Jensen from the Sullivan County Human Rights Commission. They will also be hosting Teen Ink Art program at 3:30 p.m. on Mon. April 11.

Both of these are drop in programs. Here in Fallsburg we’re introducing the “Book Box” program which is a monthly box with books picked by us using your interests and some goodies and a craft too.

You can check in with your local library to see if they too will be hosting any entertaining programs this month. Keep an eye out for information about the Inaugural event for the newly appointed 2022-2023 Poet Laureate!

We thank everyone including Pecks for their support for the libraries in Sullivan County and make sure to stop by the Pecks Market closest to you soon!
