Irene E. Fraley “Rene”, 86, of Loch Sheldrake, New York, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2025, after a life filled with love, service, and dedication to her family and community. Born on February 24, 1939, in Albany, New York, Irene was the daughter of the late James Ewing and Harriet Fletcher. She spent her formative years in Yonkers, New York, where she grew up before attending Wells College.

Irene’s passion for education led her to become an English teacher, but her life’s true calling was her family. She married the love of her life, Albert Marvin Fraley, and together they raised two children, Linda Terwilliger and James Fraley. Irene was a devoted wife and mother, who found joy in supporting her loved ones in every way she could.

Throughout her life, Irene was actively involved in her community. She was a dedicated member of the Ladies Auxiliary and served as a Firehouse EMT for the Loch Sheldrake Ambulance Corps. Her generosity extended to the community when she donated an ambulance for the Baymonet Alabama Ambulance Corps, their first-ever ambulance. Irene also worked as a nurse’s aide at Harris Hospital and was a published poet. She had a deep passion for helping others and worked as an intake coordinator at the Sullivan County Recovery Center, where she helped countless individuals. Her efforts continued as she worked at Stepping Stones in Monticello, helping secure grants that furthered their mission.

Irene was a loving grandmother and great-grandmother, cherished by her family. She is survived by her children, Linda Terwilliger, her husband (Lee) and James Fraley, and his longtime companion, Olga Agosto. She was a proud grandmother to Tara, Galen, and Cody Terwilliger, Maria, Peter and Joey Agosto, and great-grandmother to Ava, Alex, and Aislinn; as well as many nieces and nephews. Irene was predeceased by her husband, Marvin, in 2021, and her brother, Peter Ewing.

Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 2pm to 4pm at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, New York.

Irene’s legacy will live on through the love she gave, the lives she touched, and the countless ways she made the world a better place. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
