JEFFERSONVILLE – It was another solid turnout for the Fall dance and instrumental classes at The Janice Center and the 90-plus students delivered strong performances at their respective dance and instrumental recitals held in December and January. 

The Dance Recital was held on December 22 at The Villa Roma Nightclub with 74 ballet, lyrical and hip hop students taking the capacity audience through a mix of popular songs and holiday hits. 

Among some of the songs were Just Girly Things, She’s All I Wanna be, Let it Snow, Carol of the Bells and Unwritten. All 13 routines were originally choreographed by Janice Center co-owner and dance director Tanya Cohen.

The instrumental recital was held Friday, January 17 at The Janice Center. Students in clarinet, guitar and piano played mostly holiday pieces with some classical and classic songs mixed in. The recital welcomed back Tanya Cohen to piano instruction – she started The Janice Center teaching piano but had handed it over to other instructors the past 10 years while she took over the fast-growing dance program.

 She, along with Jeff Yeung teach a range of instruments at The Janice Center including clarinet, guitar, flute, piano and saxophone as well as voice.

Four students appeared in both the dance and music recitals. They were Jaelyn Brockner, Lilly Lynker, Adalyna Schumacher and Arina Schumacher. 

Dance is offered during a Fall Session and a Winter-Spring Session. The upcoming Winter-Spring session will begin February 8. Registration forms can be found online at http://www.janicecenter.com.
