January 18 – Happy New Year everybody! Hard to believe we are halfway through January. Lots of “stuff” happening in Jeffersonville and around the County!

It’s time for the AOH Annual parade! A fundraiser for their St. Patrick’s Day Parade is being held on Saturday, February 11th from 1-5pm at the Old Foundation on Route 52 between Jeffersonville and Kenoza Lake. There will be live Irish music, hors d’oeuvres, no cover, raffle prizes and a 50/50. They will be selling chances for Bethel Woods season lawn tickets for $10 each – drawing for 2 tickets will happen after the parade. The parade will be held Saturday, March 18th with line up at noon and parade starting at 1pm. Grand Marshal for this year is Jim Hughson! Joining them, the McPadden Pipes & Drums, AOH Sullivan Brothers, and our own Jeffersonville Protection Hose #1. They welcome all Fire Departments, Ambulance Corps/Rescue Units, Businesses floats and participation, kids’ groups, marchers, marching bands, dancers, antique car clubs, and veteran groups.  Lineup at Noon on Willy Avenue – Chapel Street is an “alcohol free” zone for the kids. Before the parade they will be selling chances for Bethel Woods season lawn tickets for $10 each.  Call JP at 845-807-7980 for FMI.

Time again for the Annual 98.3 WSUL Heart-A-Thon, celebrating its 45th year on Friday, February 17th, expanding the beneficiaries to focus on Prevention, Education and the Treatment of Heart Disease in Sullivan County. 100%of the funds raised stays right here in the Sullivan Catskills. This year’s proceeds will benefit a Treadmill for the Cardiac Rehab and some portable Cardiac Monitors, both for the Garnet Medical Center Catskills Campus; the Warrior Teens Program and an Outdoor Fitness Pad in Monticello with Sullivan 180, A Single Bite’s Real Food School Education Program, and Building Sullivan’s Healthcare Workforce Scholarships with SUNY Sullivan. Please purchase a heart at one of our local merchants to help this worthy cause. My “Cub Reporter” Jack Costello has been helping to sell the  hearts for many years after he was diagnosed with a serious heart condition. His wonderful wife Doris celebrated her birthday Thursday, please wish her a Happy Birthday when you see her! Both Jack and Doris belong to many volunteer groups, always helping their community!

The JEMS group of volunteers is holding a Penny Social on Saturday, May 13th at the Jeffersonville Firehouse. Doors open at 11:30 with calling starting at 1 pm. This fundraiser is being held to raise money for their beautification projects that includes the gardens and flower planters along the Main Street, the American flags, the Annual Duck Race/Jeff Jamboree and Community events in The Backyard Park. If you have any questions, please call Gayle at 845-807-9153, Vita at 845-482-5776. More information will be forthcoming as the date gets closer.

JEMS is always looking for more volunteers to help with the gardens and at their events. A Junior JEMS group is being formed for the kids to participate too. Please contact Sue at 845-796-6966 for more information.

Let me know if you have any news to share and enjoy your week!
