The JEMS Penny Social Saturday at the Jeffersonville firehouse was a great success! Many thanks to all of the volunteers that worked all day and also to all of the people that came out to support us by looking for treasures too. All of the profit goes towards the flowers along our Main Street and beautiful hanging baskets as well as our Concerts on our new stage in the Village’s Backyard Park! The JEMS will be having their second Penny Social Saturday, October 14th at the firehouse and will feature lots of holiday items. Mark your calendar!

I went to a presentation at the Western Sullivan Public Library last Wednesday and thoroughly enjoyed John Conway and his presentation of “Famous Murder Trials in Sullivan County”. Two of these trials took place in Jeffersonville and the others in different places throughout the county! John is always very interesting and has  unlimited knowledge in many topics. John is the Sullivan County Historian and can be found at the “Seminary Hill Cidery” in Callicoon at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 21st. He will present “How the Railroad Helped Build Tourism in the Upper Delaware River Valley.”

The River Reporter will be including a 4-H News Section once a month and would love to have 4-H youth share what is going on within their clubs. News must be sent by the first Thursday of the month to copyeditor@riverreporter.com. All pictures must be attached as a separate jpg. Text can be in an email form or contact the office to learn how to write a press release. Please share all of the awesome things Sullivan County 4-H youth are up to!
