Mark your calendars for The Ancient Order of Hibernians of Jeffersonville's Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday, March 20th!

The parade will be led by the McPadden Pipes & Drums, Hudson Valley Regional Police Pipes & Drums, AOH Sullivan Brothers, our own Jeffersonville Protection Hose #1 and several of Sullivan County's Fire Depts. and others. They are looking for floats, kids' groups, marchers, marching bands, dancers, car clubs, veteran groups, Fire Department and Ambulance Corps to join them.

All participants must register their group information upon arrival in order for your group to be announced as they pass the grandstand. The lineup area at 12 Willy Avenue will have an “alcohol free” zone for the kids.

Parade steps off at 1 p.m. Before the parade they will be selling chances for Bethel Woods season lawn tickets (includes chairs) for $10 each - drawing for 2 tickets will happen after the parade. Call 845-482-3872 FMI. Please come on out - bring your family and friends and enjoy the Parade! Face covering is required and social distancing will be enforced.

If you haven't had time to go to “Reases Cup” in North Branch (located at 60 County Road 122, next to the new storage units) do yourself a favor and do it ! They are open from 6am-2pm everyday but Tuesdays serving breakfast, pastry and lunch along with some great coffees! Delicious food and a warm, friendly atmosphere where the “locals” and newcomers are made to feel welcome !

The Cornell Cooperative Extension Service /4-H Community are working to “Warm up Sullivan!” Community service initiative continues through 2021 with three avenues of engagement.

Handmade Hats/Scarves/ Mittens Drive - for distribution throughout the county, Make a Block for Blankets - crochet, knit, or sew 7” square or 7” x 9” square blocks for assembling by Textile Group volunteers for veterans, shelters, nursing homes, etc. and Remembering Creatures Great and Small - collection of handmade and non-handmade pet beds, blankets and toys for our local animal shelters.

Use your own patterns or patterns from ITP. Contact mlr34@cornell.edu for upcoming drop-off dates and locations or choose to donate directly to the organization of your choice. 4-Hr's be sure to share your photos and details for a 4-H Community Service Story Map being planned.

The New York Farm Bureau is offering a 2021 Agricultural Scholarship to 2021 graduating high school seniors who will continue their education to prepare for a career connected to the diverse agricultural industry. Youth must live or work on a farm or be involved with agriculture via any avenue.

A Family Farm Bureau membership or student Farm Bureau membership is required and may accompany application. Students are required to complete an application and submit a brief 300-500 word essay discussing an issue facing agriculture in their county, explaining how they think NYFB can support members who may deal with this issue. Completed application packets must be returned to New York Farm Bureau in Albany. A March 1, 2021 postmark deadline or via email to npdugan@nyfb.org.

The JEMS (Jeffersonville Enhances More of Sullivan) beautification group in Jeffersonville is looking for an Intern to help take care of the gardens along Main Street this year.

You would work in your community as a paid Sullivan Renaissance Intern, starting at $13/hour, from May through August - age requirement is 16-20. Apply, it can help to build experience for your resume, help you to make valuable connections, and help to develop skills while you participate in leadership skills. Contact me for more information!
