June E. Bartol, a lifelong resident of Monticello, passed away on New Year’s Eve, 2022 at Bon Secours Hospital in Port Jervis at the age of 99.

The daughter of the late Annabelle and Howard Denton (a retired sergeant with the Monticello Police Department), she was born June 25, 1923 in Middletown.  

She is survived by a granddaughter: Colleen Rios and her husband, Frank, of Monticello; a grandson: Glenn Bartol of Lynbrook; her great-granddaughter: Ashley Rios of Liberty; great-great-granddaughters: Sophia, Aleigha, Mia and Alaina Travis of Liberty; and nieces: Terry Tauber of Chicago, IL, Candy Malaspina of South Amboy, NJ and Kris Willis of Escondido, CA; as well as many area friends.  

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Willard, and sons Craig and Scott.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 22 from noon to 1:30 pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello.  

A funeral service will then be held at 2 pm at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 15 St. John Street in Monticello with Mo. Diana Scheide officiating.  Burial of her ashes will follow at the St. John Street Cemetery in Monticello.
