The Kay Danchak Memorial Youth Outdoor Expo was held last Saturday at the Grahamsville Fairgrounds and attracted a little over a 100 people including 64 children and their supervising adults.

Children toured the huge indoor arena where exhibitors were stationed. Many built birdhouses and participated in the competition games for prizes. The popular trout pool was full of trout waiting to be caught.

All children received free Federation Youth Outdoor Expo caps & t-shirts and a tote bag of goodies. They were treated to hot dogs, chips, soda & ice cream along with cotton candy.

President of the Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs of Sullivan County Jack Danchak welcomed everyone to the Kay Danchak Memorial Youth Outdoor Expo.

“This is the second year Kay was not here with us. Everyone remembers how fond she was of this event and she looked forward to it, helping the children learn a little bit more about outdoor activities. This is why this event is named in her memory,” Jack said.

Jack then announced the winners of the competition events and awarded them prizes. Winners of the BB Gun Shoot were: 6-year-old Jose Fargas of Grahamsville, 7-year-old Jack Darder of Nevversink, 11-year-old Evelyn Allison of Neversink and 14-year-old Brian Knight of Neversink. All four received a BB Gun Kit as a prize.

Winners of the Corn Hole Game were: 10-year old Grace Darder of Neversink, 13-year old Ethan Morse of Walden and 7-year old Jack Darder of Neversink. All received $20 Gift Certificates.

Winners of the Sock Toss Game were 10-year old Shayden Laforge of Neversink, 13-year-old keelie Damms of Neversink and 11-year-old Leslie Burr of Jeffersonville. All received $20 Gift Certificates.

Winners catching the largest trout were: 12-year-old William Seward of Hurleyville and 10-year-old Patrick Allison of Hurleyville. Both will receive free fish mounts of their trout. Rod Taxidermy of Callicoon will donate a mount and the Sportsmen's Federation will donate the other mount.

In conclusion, President Danchak thanked the chairman of this event this year, Hank Samyn and his staff for a job well done making this special day a success.

Jack thanked everyone for coming and said he is looking forward of having the Kay Danchak Memorial Youth Outdoor Expo next year and wished everyone a safe trip home.
