Spring officially arrives on Thursday, March 20th with warmer weather on the horizon, more hours of daylight, and so much more to know and do.  From Spring Cleanups to tantalizing eat treats, we’ve got you covered.

The Sullivan County Chamber has its 3rd Thursday Networking Mixer at Starters American Eatery on Broadway in Monticello on March 20 starting at 5pm. If you’re looking to grow your business connections, meet fellow professionals, and enjoy great food while networking, don’t miss this event. 

And, the Monticello Rotary will hold its Humpback Friday (same concept – but 3rd Friday of the Month) on Friday, March 21st from 5pm – 7pm at Starters American Eatery as well.  Come get your weekend started off right, with great food, great conversation, and great people of action.  You do not need to be a Rotary Member to attend.  Finger Foods sponsored by Rotary with a Cash Bar.  All are welcome. 

The Loch Sheldrake Fire Department will hold a Penny Social on Saturday, March 22 at the Fire House with Doors opening at 5pm and tickets pulled at 7pm.  Come out and support our local Fire Departments holding events throughout the Spring. 

The Mamakating Environmental Education Center and Sullivan Catskills presents Celebrate NYS Maple Weekend on Sunday, March 23 at 765 South Road, Wurtsboro.  Learn all about Maple Syrup production, from identifying and tapping a Sugar Maple tree, to the process of making maple syrup.  Try a maple syrup taste test, enjoy a fresh waffle with syrup, and try some “sugar on snow” maple candy!  Family fun with crafts for kids too!  Admission is $10 and registration is required.  Please dress appropriate to the weather. Come join the Fallsburg PBA for a night filled with laughter at the Resorts World Catskills! The Fallsburg Police Benevolent Association is hosting a hilarious comedy show featuring talented comedians Joe DeVito, Ruperto Vanderpool and Tommy Goochready to entertain you. Get ready to chuckle, giggle, and maybe even snort with laughter! Don’t miss out on this evening of fun and comedy. Grab your friends and family for a memorable night out! Doors open at 6PM. Cash bar and snacks available. Contact any PBA member for tickets!!

The RJK Middle School PTO will hold its 2nd Annual RJK Panther Pride Fun Run (or Walk). A ‘Color Run’ style event is a 1.5 mile, untimed ‘fun run and walk’ over the grounds of our beautiful school!  A wonderful opportunity to get outside as a family and a community and enjoy that fresh spring air! 

Now through March 22, registration is $35 and includes a complimentary RJK Panther Pride Fun Run t-shirt commemorating the race day. After March 22, registration will continue to be $35 but no shirt will be guaranteed to a registrant.

The Monticello Rotary Second Annual Taste of Sullivan in collaboration with SUNY Sullivan to benefit the Sullivan County Federation for the Homeless will take place at the Paul Gerry Fieldhouse at SCCC on April 22, from 6pm - 8pm.

Over 20 Sullivan County restaurants, distilleries, and food distributors will be serving samplings of their culinary delicacies. From appetizers to desserts, participants will enjoy the multicultural and diverse eatery options in our area.

Students from the SUNY Sullivan Culinary Department, along with SUNY Rotaract Members and Fallsburg High School Interact Clubs, will be on hand to showcase their culinary talents and assist in the operations of this event.

In addition, raffles will be available for gift certificates to the vendors present and many others throughout Sullivan County to help raise funds for this worthy cause.

The Monticello Rotary Club is accepting Scholarship applications from graduating students in the Monticello and Fallsburg High Schools through March 21st.  To apply, students should acquire an application from their School Guidance Counselor.  For additional information, contact RotaryMonti@gmail.com. 

Condolences to the Gold family on the loss of family patriarch Harold Gold.  May his memory be for a blessing.
