As the leaves turn and crisp air settles over Lake Huntington, fall sets the perfect stage for gathering with neighbors and enjoying local events that celebrate music, movement, and community. Whether it’s dancing or tapping your boots to live tunes at the pizzeria, this season is filled with ways to connect, unwind, and support local causes.

Here are some events happening in our communities and beyond:

Explore Indigenous History at “Coffee, Tea, and History” with Professor Evan Pritchard – Sept 21 in Cochecton. Mark your calendar for September 21 at 1pmwhen the Cochecton Preservation Society hosts the 19th annual “Coffee, Tea, and History” at the Cochecton Train Station (8537 State Route 97). This year’s free event features acclaimed author and Native American historian Professor Evan Pritchard, a descendant of the Mi’kmaq people and expert in Indigenous culture. His talk, “Cochecton’s First People – What Traces Still Remain,” will explore the deep-rooted history of the region’s First Peoples through trails, villages, rivers, and agricultural traditions. Attendees will enjoy a Q&A session, samples of Native American cuisine, and a special tribute to Woody the Bear – now retired and replaced by Makwa the Bear, honoring the ancestral roots of the region. This free educational event offers a rich opportunity to learn about local Indigenous heritage and is proudly supported by a grant from the Upper Delaware Scenic Byway.

The Windy Mule Performs Live at Lakeview Pizzeria – All for a Good Cause! Don’t miss a live performance by The Windy Mule at Lakeview Pizzeria, 23 Crestwood Rd, Lake Huntington. The band will take the stage from 4-6pm on September 26 bringing their well-loved blend of upbeat, family-friendly music to the local crowd. The event isn’t just about great music and pizza – it’s a fundraiser supporting Ride 2 Survive Sullivan County, a nonprofit that helps local cancer patients get to and from treatment. All proceeds and donations from the event will go toward this vital cause. See you there!

Kick off your boots and head to the Delaware Valley Opera Center on Friday, September 19, from 7-10pm for a lively evening of line dancing with April Michelle. This 21-and-over event promises fun, music, and movement for just $10 per person. Held at 6692 NY-52, Lake Huntington, NY, the session offers a great chance to meet neighbors, learn some new steps, and enjoy a night out. Free water will be available, with snacks for purchase. Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or a complete beginner, all are welcome. Tickets available at DelawareValleyOpera.org.

Get ready to rewind the clock and dance through the decades at Lakeview Bar in Lake Huntington, as they host an epic Retro Dance Party on Saturday, October 4! Featuring the ultimate throwback mix from the ’80s, ’90s, and 2000s, DJ Frankie Kurtz will be spinning your favorite hits all night long. Doors open at 7pm, with the dance floor heating up at 8pm.
