Hello, did you all have a nice weekend? It’s getting a little easier to write the column because there is stuff going on.

Saturday, Sept 18th Happy St. Patrick’s Day, lol only kidding. George at Lakeview Pizzeria, 23 Crestwood Rd, Lake Huntington, is cooking his famous corn beef and cabbage dinner, it’s ½ way to St. Paddy’s Day. Dinner starts at 4:30 and will be served until they sell out. Call ahead for reservations and take out (845) 932-8131. I wish they sold Irish soda bread all year round, maybe it’s a good thing that they don’t, I would be eating it all the time.

This weekend on Saturday, September 18, The Cochecton Men’s Club is having a chicken BBQ. I am not sure if they are sold out or not. The men’s club is also selling raffle tickets. Prizes are nice amounts of money, tickets are $20 each. For more information please give Sean Nearing a call at (845) 807-3933.

On Sunday, September 26, The Cochecton Preservation Society is hosting their 15th Coffee, Tea and History, at 1:00 p.m. at the Cochecton Train Station, 8537 Rt. 97. *Rain or shine. Guest speakers: Sullivan County Historian John Conway - From Timber Rafts to Turnpikes - The Role of Transportation in the Development of Sullivan County; and retired Railroad Engineer, Bill Dudko The Advent of the Erie Railroad. Added feature: Power Point pictures of traveling on the passenger trains by Ginny Dudko. A great vacation option you might consider!

Admission and light refreshments are free, (donations appreciated!). Tour the oldest still standing train station that was saved from being demolished and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. For more info call (845) 932-8104; email cps12726@gmail.com or visit website: cochectonpreservationsociety.com.

On Wednesday, September 29, from 6 to 9 p.m., A Comedy Show Fundraiser at Henning’s Local, 6 Old County Road, Cochecton Center, 12726 (on top of Heinle’s General Store). Tickets to the show are $20 + a 2-item minimum purchase of food and/or drinks. *Lineups subject to change. Advance purchase required. No refunds. Vaccination required (Excelsior pass or paper card with ID) or proof of a negative COVID test with results within 72 hours. Profits will benefit the Cochecton Democratic Club. For tickets and more information go to Eventbrite: www.eventbrite.com/e/stand-up-for-cochecton-a-comedy-show-fundraiser-for-cochecton-democrats-tickets-170030536913.

Save the date for Saturday October 16, The Lake Huntington Ladies Aid will be holding their Penny Social. The ladies are working hard to get this event going, stay tuned for more information.
