Hello, it’s that time of year for family, food and fun. I am cooking for my brother, and three friends, nice and small. We will have plenty of leftovers and more desserts than needed.

I am blessed to have great childhood memories of Thanksgiving dinner. My father always made sure we had a big bowl of fruit and walnuts for Thanksgiving morning. One night my husband Tommy (boyfriend at the time) came home late on Thanksgiving Eve after spending the night in the bar.

The bowl of fruit was already out, big fat juicy grapes, tangerines, walnuts, we ate it all. Tommy got up early and went to the store to replace what we ate. My mom and dad were up early to get the turkey in the oven. My dad’s job was to cut the turnips. One time it was so hard he used a big knife and a hammer.

To this day I make my mom’s sausage stuffing and have memories of helping her as a child, cutting and chopping. Thanksgiving Day was always laying around watching the parade and The March of The Wooden Soldiers, followed by The Wizard of Oz. I still watch them as an adult.

At the end of the parade when Santa Claus came, my mom would say it’s officially Christmas time. I am very thankful for the life I live, for my family, friends, coworkers and readers. A Thanksgiving Blessing for all. May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord show you his kindness and have mercy on you. May the Lord watch over you and give you peace.                                   Happy Thanksgiving.

Keep smiling and have a great week. You can e-mail me at leeniebeans@citlink.net or call (845) 252-3568 if you have any news. My new deadline is Friday.
