Lake Huntington - April 7

As I sit here and type my column, I am very nervous for my youngest brother Christopher who has the coronavirus. He lives in Elmhurst, Queens, he was not feeling well and took his temperature and it was 102, next day he was 102.5 so he called his doctor who interviewed him over the phone and had him do different breathing tests and he was coughing.

They told him he caught it early and it's a mild case, he is on meds, an inhaler and cough medicine. I just got off the phone with him to make sure it was ok to write about him and the virus. Between his fits of coughing he said sure, I could not wait to hang up the phone, I felt like I could catch his cooties.

Last week I went into Pete's Market and everyone had a mask of some type or another. Some had a bandanna, winter scarf, a turtle neck pulled up over there face and medical or work masks. I did not have one on and I felt naked so I pulled my shirt up over my face. Today I went there and everyone had a mask on even me, they have plastic up between you and the cashier.

Tax season is coming to an end this week; I have been working at night when there is no one in the building but me. Driving to work it was really nice to see people out walking their dogs, jogging and riding there bicycles. Just getting out and looking at the lake is like a breath of fresh air.

Speaking of the lake, here is a letter from the association:

Dear Lake Association Members,

First I hope this letter finds everyone well. We the board of the Lake Association hope that everyone is staying safe and healthy during this tough time in our country.

There is a notice that was sent out of Consent for treating Lake Huntington with SeClear. Please review the notice and direct your concerns as outlined.

We will send out a follow-up email with exact dates as they become available.

Thank you,

Michael F. Popolillo, President Lake Huntington Lake Association.

The Lake Huntington Fire Co. is doing something wonderful for the local kids. They know this is a very trying time for you, especially for your children. They do not understand why they can't go to school, the park or see their friends. Many children's birthday parties had to be cancelled.

We, at the Lake Huntington Fire Co., would like to come curbside to your child's house on his or her birthday, make some noise, flash some lights and wish your child a Happy Birthday from the fire company. So if you are within our fire district, and your child is under 12, and you'd like us to give a shout out Happy Birthday to your child during this social distancing time PM the dept Facebook page.

Keep smiling and wash your hands. Have a great week, you can e-mail me at leeniebeans@citlink.net or call (845) 252-3568 if you have any news.
