Lake Huntington - December 1

I hope you all had a very happy and healthy and fun Thanksgiving. Mine was great, after dessert my brother was laying on my couch and my cousin was nodding off in my lazy boy as I sat on the hard dining room table chair with my cousin's wife.

I know I was being rude but I did not care. I told them to take naps at their own house, please leave. It's time to go home, love you, but you got to go. I am sure I was in my night gown and relaxing in my chair by the time they got home. It takes days to shop, cook and prepare dinner and 20 minutes, it's gone. I did enjoy quite a few face time chats with family and friends. I am very thankful.

As most of you have heard, American Electric had a fire at our office in Lake Huntington on November 25 around 6 PM. We as a family are devastated of what we have lost. We know we will get through this with the help of family, friends, and a strong community.

In a statement from American Electric's Facebook page said, “We cannot express how grateful we are to Lake Huntington Fire Department for their quick response. We also want to thank White Lake, Callicoon, Kenoza Lake, Lava, and Jeffersonville fire departments for their quick actions as well. Our company and family are overwhelmed with the amount of support and care we have received from local businesses and our community to help in any way they can. Even with this setback, we are open for business and are continuing our daily routines as normal. Once again, we would like to thank the entire community that came to our aid. From Mike, Patti, Michael and Brian Popolillo, along with our entire American Electric Family. The comeback is always greater than the setback.”

When you go into Pete's Market you will see a Christmas tree with paper ornaments on it. If you would like to help locals kids out this Christmas season you can take one and return an age appropriate toy.

There will be a donation barrel there also in St Francis Church and Narrowsburg PO. Monetary donations for food or Toy Drive should be addressed to Ecumenical Food Pantry, P.O. Box 54, Narrowsburg, NY 12764. In the memo part of the check please put food or toys so the money goes to the right place. For larger food donations, call Joanne 845-252-3971.

Look for next week's new business opening from local people Colin and Holly Gallagher and their Vegan Taco take out. They are on social media, @botanistvegan (instagram) and Botanist Vegan Street Food (Facebook).

Keep smiling and have a great week and you can e-mail me at leeniebeans@citlink.net or call 845/252-3568 if you have any news. My new deadline is Friday.
