Hello everyone. It’s Fran DeFilippi Kurpil… Happy 2022 to everyone.

I have to admit I was happy to see the snow in hopes of seeing the little Kelly kids enjoying their sleds, but then, well you know: kids and old folks homebound with ice everywhere. To try to be positive about that scene, looking out my back window, the iced branches of my lilac were shining in the sun like glass. There were even some determined birds chirping from the trees.

Busy and Blessed Holidays: Our big family has had weeks of joy, trying to keep healthy distances, and yet gather. Dr. Andy and Emily Gieger and four kids were here from California and our big group gathered in St. George’s church hall with plenty of room to share our combined dinners and for the little ones to play. As great-gram here, there is no greater warmth than sharing time with family. I sat with little sixteen month old Hans Gieger in view. He was busy dipping his bread in applesauce and really enjoying it.

Parksville: I’ve heard that Sara Litwin, whose family has owned the pharmacy building on Main Street for many years, has crocheted pole covers for the stop signs on Main and Short Avenue to bring attention to the stop signs, “because cars keep blowing through them”.

Village Of Liberty: Ron Stabak continues in public service, going from Mayor to his newly elected position as Town Judge. Joan Stoddard is still Deputy Mayor till January 20th. Then Trustees will vote to confirm her as Mayor and appoint someone to finish her Trustee seat. At that point, they will set plans for the year.

Denise Frangipane: Denise is with Sullivan Renaissance and The Gerry Foundation. She said there will be a film on the Town Website soon where Nick Rusin will high-lite exciting projects that are in the works.

It sounds like an exciting new year beginning for Liberty.
