Liberty beats Tri-Valley!

GRAHAMSVILLE – Tri-Valley and Liberty matched up on Tuesday afternoon, and the Indians left Grahamsville with a 21-3 victory over the Bears. David Philips gave up three earned runs and struck out six on the mound and also added two hits and three RBIs.

Elliel Lima had two hits, including a triple, and drove in five runs. Cody Ricco also contributed an RBI triple.

Tri-Valley’s Austin Hartman had two hits in the loss, including a double. Colin Monell had two hits for the Bears and drove in all three of Tri-Valley’s runs.

Baseball

Sullivan West beat Fallsburg 15-7 on Tuesday afternoon. Fallsburg jumped ahead early, scoring the first five runs of the game and taking a 5-0 lead into the third inning before the Bulldogs put up eight runs in the top of the third. After adding two more in the fourth and five in the top of the sixth, they were able to increase their lead to ten and stave off a late two-run outburst by the Comets. Fallsburg’s defense struggled with errors, accruing ten over the course of the game. Andrew Hubert and Yadhier Tejada each hit a home run in the game, for Sullivan West and Fallsburg respectively.

Monticello was on the road in Minisink on Tuesday and lost 15-5. The Panthers took a 4-1 lead in the second inning, but Minisink answered quickly with five runs of their own. In the third, Minisink added five more and continued to build on their lead.

Golf

Monticello and Cornwall competed at Lochmor on Tuesday afternoon, with the Dragons beating the Panthers 215-253. Monticello’s Joe Russo and Chase McFarlane were the top golfers for Monticello, each shooting a 41 in the losing effort. Monticello’s season is off to an early 0-3 start. 

Softball

Seward beat Liberty 13-0 behind a 14K perfect game effort by Kailey Stalowski. Seward reached the state semifinals last year and took care of business on Wednesday to get their season record to 5-2. Liberty fell to 1-4 on their 2023 campaign.

Track and Field

Liberty hosted Chester, Livingston Manor, Roscoe, Seward and Homestead on Wednesday afternoon.

Chester defeated each of the schools, Liberty boys beat Seward 56-51 and Roscoe 75-27. The Roscoe boys defeated Manor 54-25 and lost 54-15 to Seward.

On the girls side, Liberty beat Manor 98-1 and Roscoe 94-14. Roscoe defeated Manor 60-0 and Chester defeated all three.

Monticello hosted Beacon and the boys and girls swept the Bulldogs. The boys team won 101-40 while the girls put up a 99-30 finish.
