LIBERTY - According to the Alzheimer’s Association, an estimated 6.5 million Americans age 65 and older are living with Alzheimer’s dementia. This translates to about 1 in 9 people (10.7%) age 65 and older suffering with Alzheimer’s dementia. To help the public learn more about this devastating disease, the library is offering some programming in June.
On Thursday June 9 from 1 pm to 3:30 p.m. the library will show a touching film about an aging comedy writer who is diagnosed with early stage dementia. Then, on Thursday, June 16th at 1 pm Patricia Avery, the Caregiver Resource Center Coordinator for Cornell Cooperative Extension of Sullivan County will present a workshop titled “Know the 10 Signs of Alzheimer’s Disease”.
These programs are free and will be held in-person in the lower level program room of the Liberty Public Library at 189 North Main Street, Liberty. For more information, please call the library at (845)292-6070, or email lib@rcls.org or visit http://www.libertypubliclibrary.org.
