Linda L. Rampe of Liberty, NY, a retired Secretary for the Liberty Central School District and a longtime area resident, died Saturday, October 9, 2021 at her home surrounded by her devoted family. She was 73.
Born January 14, 1948 in Manhattan, NY she was the daughter of the late William and Annette Goffredo Hein.
Linda began her career working for a headhunter firm in Manhattan. Thereafter, she went to the ABC Network in the Sports Division working for such notables as Roone Arledge and Howard Cosell.
When her father passed away in 1980, Linda moved to Smallwood, NY to live with her mother. While in Sullivan County, she was employed by Monticello High School, Sullivan County Community College and finally Liberty Central School District.
While in Smallwood, she met Bill Rampe. They married and remained together for forty-one years successfully raising their family of four.
Linda was a communicant at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Liberty, NY for many years where she volunteered as Secretary as well as a Sunday School teacher and member of several of the church’s organizations. She was a volunteer at the Middletown Humane Society. Linda was both a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader in Liberty. She was an avid collector of Antique German Dolls, being a member of the Catskill Mountain Doll Club and serving as Secretary. Her family and friends will remember her as an excellent and adventurous cook with her traditional, especially memorable, yearly Christmas Eve seven fishes dinner.
Survivors include her husband, William L. Rampe, at home; two sons, William Bohan of Hudson, NY and Dr. James Bohan and his wife Sharon of Horseheads, NY; two daughters, Jennifer Vidalis and her husband William of Liberty, NY and Hilary Rampe of Walden, NY; five grandchildren, Luis, Alex, Samantha, Evan, and Charles; and several cousins.
The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff of Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties for the exceptional care they provided during Linda’s ordeal.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 13, 2021 from 12 Noon to 2 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at 2 PM in the funeral home. The Rev. Canon Diana S. Scheide will officiate.
Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery, Liberty, NY.
Memorial contributions in Linda’s name may be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550 or to the Middletown Humane Society, 142 Bloomingburg Road, Middletown, NY 10940.
