Linda Rae (Bjorn) Kerwin, age 83, of Syracuse, NY passed away at home on September 16, 2022.

Linda was born in Baldwinsville, NY on March 20, 1939, to Raymond and Olive Lynch. In August of 1964, she married Ken Bjorn. Linda and Ken lived in Liverpool, NY until Ken accepted a job at Eldred Central School as a Physical Education teacher. This was such a great decision because they made so many true and life-long friends through the school. A few years later, Linda also accepted a position at ECS in the business office. Many years later, Ken passed away, Linda retired and then she moved back to Baldwinsville, NY to care for her parents. This is when she met Matt Kerwin, and they were married in December of 2009.

Linda is survived by her husband, Matthew Kerwin; her children, Erik (Kim) Bjorn and Lisa (Dale) Rider; her brother James (Nancy) Lynch; grandchildren, Brianna, Brett, Jake, Madelyn, Noah, Erin and Allison; several nieces/nephews, Ken, Tom, Shalene, Laurie, Terri Ann, Kenneth, Pam, and Michele. She was predeceased by her first husband Kenneth Bjorn, parents Raymond and Olive Lynch, and sister Nancy Lynch.

Linda was a very gentle and selfless person, always thinking of others before herself. She volunteered her time at the Baldwinsville First United Methodist Church and the Bread of Life at St. Lucy’s. She loved spending time with family and friends, the “hinges” and, especially her grandchildren. Those who knew her can attest that she loved desserts, especially vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce.

She was loved by all. She will be deeply missed.

Calling hours are Saturday, September 24, 2022, from 1-3 p.m. followed by a funeral service at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Avenue, Syracuse, NY.  At the discretion of the family, there will be a casual graveside service at a later date at the Montoza Cemetery in Eldred, NY.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hospice of Central New York, Baldwinsville First United Methodist Church, the American Cancer Society, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
