Love not anger

We are witnessing locally some peaceful protesting and some in our communities have said to me that it's their belief that the message has been made very clear and that our society needs to sit back, calm down and let justice do its job.

If we could spread love as quickly as we spread hate and negativity what an amazing world we would live in.

I just get the feeling that this is a great country founded on principles that have basically led us in the right direction.

The tragic death of a young black man named George Floyd shows how humanity failed.

The police officer who committed this horrible crime showed us cruelty in uniform and a profound loss of life that never should have taken place in today's modern society.

And where does this tragic death lead us? From this horrific scene which clearly showed this rogue police officer holding his knee to Floyd's neck for more than eight minutes before Floyd died.

Not only should this police officer be charged with murder but three others could very well face the same charge.

Justice will be done.

Take our nation today…we see it rolling from virus to violence. At first we saw the exercise of First Amendment rights to speak, assemble and petition the government for redress, protesters, black and white are rightly using rights preserved by our founders.

So then comes anger channeled into protests to attempt to redress a wrong.

This wrong we hope and pray does not continue…we feel strongly that our justice system that has worked for so many tragedies in the past will again shine clearly for what is right.

For our system to bear witness for what is right protests should not be overtaken by political activists that also produced rioting mobs and defensible looters…these criminal acts do nothing for Mr. Floyd and his family or for our African American population.

Any anger should be channeled into righting the wrong and resolving what problems exist.

This is where Americans work to restore a common commitment to living as… “One Nation Under God” and to bring peace and love of neighbor to all.

Come on America, we must dig deeper and make the future a place of peace and principle. We need love not hate.

We are better than what has taken place the last couple weeks.
