LIVINGSTON MANOR -- The Livingston Manor Wildcats hosted the Roscoe Blue Devils for the second time this season on Friday, and although the game was closer, the Wildcats won 44-26.
The two teams spent the first half trying to get through the opposing defense to no avail, at the end of the first quarter the score was 3-2. Livingston Manor was able to pull away in the second quarter, ending the first half on an 8-2 run to take an 18-11 lead into the break.
Livingston Manor's league win Friday night came on the heels of another league win over Chapel Field on Thursday, so the Wildcats are now 8-6 overall and 5-0 in the league. Friday's win clinched them the OCIAA Division VI title.
“We were in the ballgame, but the credit belongs to Livingston Manor,” Roscoe Coach Fred Ahart said. “Their team is very tough on the boards and very strong inside.”
Connor Gorr and Pat DiBartolo led the Wildcats with 15 points each, while Brenden Ryder led with 7 for the Blue Devils. Gorr also tallied 16 rebounds and three blocks in the win.
“I'm proud of this team and what they've been able to do defensively,” Wildcats coach Adam Larson said. “We knew Roscoe was going to come out hungry and we were able to make the adjustments we needed to.”
