To the editor:
After 12 years of Obama/Trump with under 70 total mass shootings; the number of mass shootings has exploded to well over 200 in just 5 months! Some people want to blame this on COVID also, but I don’t think so.
Joe ‘gun-control’ Biden’s 47 years in Congress has been voting for gun control except the ‘Fast n Furious’ gun running programs he was Vice President for.
The problem is Congress’s common-sense-actions make NO sense after all the current laws haven’t stopped gun violence and only made it worse! Most of these laws are knee-jerk-feel-good laws that do nothing except take away law-abiding gun owner’s rights/ability.
When you make No-Bail reform, defund the police, let thugs take over your streets as we saw in Portland and disregard mental health then crime is going to happen!
States that have the most restrictive and regulating gun laws still don’t stop the criminal element because criminals do not obey the laws Period! Plus criminals know that where citizens can’t carry or have guns they can run rampant and police are 10+ minutes away.
Government can’t stop illegal drugs, so how could they stop gun violence? The only thing government does is restrict the good people. The current laws prove that.
Seeing that their ‘common-sense’ has NOT worked would dictate loosening the restrictions/regulations of the law-abiding gun owners. Do away with ‘Free Killing Zones’ know as Gun Free Zones; allow carrying just about everywhere for law-abiding-citizens. Secure lock-up lockers should be available for government buildings/places, for example, where you can’t carry inside.
Since Government, Courts and such are responsible for some major mass shootings, a law should be if they don’t enter someone’s information correctly/timely they should get a Misdemeanor, 15 days in jail and a $10,000.00 Fine. There’s some common-sense action!

Excellent comments, Don! BTW, why do the anti-2nd amendment people scream about gun control of long guns all the time when it is HANDGUNS all the thugs are using? They want to take away our legal, registered, law abiding citizen owned rifles and shotguns that we can use against the criminals with the handguns!

Denise after a tragedy happens 'they' come after all guns and the laws they make are mostly knee-jerk/feel-good laws that don't do anything against the criminal element. 'They' just see one side of the issue and legislate like they are doing something good but law-enforcement doesn't enforce the laws if they did we wouldn't have a problem nor a need for more laws.
They have these 'gun buy back programs' that we all pay for, it's funny how they can buy something back that they never owned. The worst part is that they don't check ballistics to see if they have a weapon used in a case so they could close or prosecute the case. They pay for guns that are in 'working order', they don't fire them so how do they know it operates?
All feel good w/o doing anything.
