MONTICELLO – The Monticello My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) program partnered with Landfield Avenue Synagogue, Lori Orestano-James, Secretary, Board of Directors and Yom HaShoah Committee Chair to observe Yom Ha’Shoah (also known as Holocaust Remembrance Day) and build bridges within our community.
Students shared their reflections from their reenactment of a conversation of friendship and support for the civil rights between Dr. Martin Luther King and three Monticello Rabbis that occurred ten days before Dr. King’s death.
They also met Mrs. Rita Lungen, a Holocaust survivor, which was a beautiful and memorable moment for the students.
