Michael Skyler (nee Schmuckler) born March 1, 1943, passed away 2 days after his 49th wedding anniversary on May 24, 2020. Michael was the son of the late Arnold & Beatrice Schmuckler and brother to the late Arlene Schmuckler (Richard Ward).

Michael will be missed by his loving wife Mona Rothenberg Skyler, devoted son Jason Skyler (Toni Feste Skyler), adoring daughter Amber Lee Skyler (Andy Vater), and beloved grandsons Charlie and Thomas Vater.

Michael Skyler lost his battle with ‘glioblastoma' and passed away at home surrounded by his loving, faithful family. It was a tough year but Michael took on the challenge with remarkable spirit and courage.

Michael was born and raised in Loch Sheldrake, NY an area commonly referred to as the ‘Borscht Belt' He had an idyllic childhood growing up on the family poultry farm in a large 2 family home he shared with his extended family that was always filled with laughter and love.

While attending South Fallsburg HS Michael worked as a waiter in area hotels. He graduated from Cornell University and received his MBA from NYU. He and a partner went into ‘the schmata' business and their company- “Flo Toronto Service Station Ltd' earned the coveted Coty Award for their innovative fashion design.

Michael moved his family to California settling in Mill Valley where they quickly became part of the local community. He coached baseball and basketball and was always there for his family. Together with his wife they created ‘the Earthquake Supply Center' which they ran for 25 years.

Michael loved the outdoors and enjoyed abalone diving, walking the beautiful trails of Marin County, hiking and kayaking. He enjoyed traveling, considered himself a foodie and was either front and center at a fabulous restaurant or cooking a delicious meal for family and friends. Michael regularly played basketball, was a proud 49er season ticket holder and a loyal fan of the Golden State Warriors.

Michael was a force to be reckoned with. He was larger than life and a rock for his family. Michael we love and miss you so much. You will never be forgotten.
