Michele Minor Wolf departs VIP after 26 years

HONESDALE, PA — Victims’ Intervention Program (VIP) Executive Director, Michele Minor Wolf, is stepping down after more than a quarter-century at the helm. Her last day with the agency will be June 1, after which she will take on another executive directorship at a non-profit addiction counseling and prevention agency.

“As years have gone by, especially the last handful, I’ve noticed such an intersection between survivors and substance use disorders. I’ve heard stories of the stigma faced by those with addiction and tried to incorporate assistance to them through VIP’s trauma counseling,” said Wolf, pointing to VIP’s services present in Malibu Wellness Ranch and Serenity Mountain Recovery Center. “The time has come for me to embrace this new calling head-on.”

Over the last 26 years, Wolf has grown VIP from a five-person staff in Honesdale, to one which supports 23 employees tending to those in need in both Wayne and Pike Counties. The program initially offered only counseling services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence, but now offers so much more. This includes shelter services for survivors and their pets, rehousing services, Civil Legal Representation, court and hospital accompaniment and service to victims of other crimes. In 26 years, Wolf has built resources to help survivors not only escape their abuse, but thrive in doing so.

“It’s been a very, very fulfilling and rewarding work with victims and survivors,” said Wolf, noting she will continue to find ways to do so while engaging in her new career trajectory. “And I’m extremely grateful to have worked in Wayne County and with the community to better the lives of our residents. This community really is great!”

VIP’s leadership transition is underway. Wolf’s successor will be named in the coming weeks.
